Muscular Thin Films July 19th, 2012

In 2007, we first reported the invention of Muscular Thin Films. This video by the first author, Adam Feinberg, explains how these muscular actuators are produced. This video won a scientific film award at the Materials Research Society Annual Meeting in Boston in November 2007.

Welcome to the DBG!! July 18th, 2012

The summer sees many new people arriving at the DBG. Ben Potter and Calla Glavin are USMA cadets here to work on nanofibers. Haley Nesmith, Jonathan Wood, Ian Perkins, and Yasha Iravantchi are new REU students from Vanderbilt, Bunker Hill, and Harvard. We have visiting faculty from USMA, where the chair of the Department of Mathematical Sciences, Prof (COL) Michael Phillips has joined us for the coming academic year to work on modeling our various experimental systems. Finally, we are honored to have Prof Kwanwoo Shin from Sogang University whose family has joined us here for a year to work on fibrillogenesis. We are grateful to host all of these visitors, for short or long term collaborations! Welcome!!
