Recommendation Requests

 

Policy Statement

 

Professor Parker will provide letters of recommendations subject to the following criteria:

 

1. You are a current member of the Disease Biophysics Group.

2. You rank in the top 25% of peer comparees.

3. Your application is appropriately matched to the opportunity you are applying for.

4. With rare exceptions, Professor Parker will only recommend one applicant per program or position with priority to current DBG members.

5. For those recommendations requiring a rateable form, Professor Parker will rate everyone in the category from top 20-10% of your peer group.

 

Your request for an application (no later than 30 days prior to the recommendation deadline) should include the following:

 

5. A request with the due date and name of the position/opportunity you are applying for and all necessary submission information

6. Your CV/resume, 2-3 bullet comments about what you did with the DBG, and 2-3 bullet comments about why the opportunity is a fit for you.

 

Professor Parker will not write recommendations for the following:

 

7. If you only took a course with Professor Parker

8. High school students who have not worked within the DBG

9. You spent less than one year in the DBG with the exception of a ES100 student or a summer Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) / high school student. In the case of those exceptions, I will only provide letters of recommendation for one year after your time in the group.

10. Requests submitted from parents/guardians

 

Employers seeking a reference will be allocated a five minute phone call at Profesor Parker's convenience. Please schedule through kitparker_admin@seas.harvard.edu

 

Due to the volume of recommendations, Professor Parker appreciates your understanding of the above policy.
